National Night Out is an annual community-building campaign that promotes police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie to make our neighborhoods safer, more caring places to live. National Night Out enhances the relationship between neighbors and law enforcement while bringing back a true sense of community. Furthermore, it provides a great opportunity to bring police and neighbors together under positive circumstances.
Millions of neighbors take part in National Night Out across thousands of communities from all fifty states, U.S. territories and military bases worldwide on the first Tuesday in August (Texas and select areas celebrate on the first Tuesday in October). Neighborhoods host block parties, cookouts and various other community events with safety demonstrations, seminars, youth events, visits from emergency personnel, exhibits and much, much more.

Why not invite your neighbors over for National Night Out on Tuesday, August 5? This event is designed to help neighbors get acquainted and help foster crime prevention. From 6 to 9 p.m., neighbors are asked to turn on their outside lights and spend the evening outdoors with one another. More than 17,000 communities in all 50 states are expected to participate in this year’s event.
Participation can be as simple as inviting a few neighbors over for a glass or wine or an ice cream cone while sitting in lawn chairs in your driveway.
Members of the Burlingame Police Department will be dropping by to visit various neighborhood gatherings. If you’d like them to stop by yours, please contact Captain Bob Boll at 650-777-4177 or email at [email protected].
