Members of the Drill Committee communicate with drill leaders, promote the drill with window signs, lawn signs and other outreach materials, replenish and distribute drill kits and assist with training workshops. People with experience in marketing and public relations, videography, neighborhood organizing, and connections with youth groups and schools would be especially helpful.
The 13th annual drill will take place on October 3 from 9 to 10:30 a.m. in multiple neighborhoods throughout Burlingame. It is designed to build community resilience by training neighbors to work together in the aftermath of a major emergency, when official responders are likely to be too busy to assist residents. Children are welcome.
The City of Burlingame, the Central County Fire Department, the Burlingame Police Department and Burlingame’s Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) are official sponsors of the drill. Local Ham radio operators also support the exercise.
