Hundreds Turn Out for Burlingame Drill

A total of 352 people participated in the Burlingame Neighborhood Network’s 11th Burlingame Disaster Response Drill on Saturday, October 5, 2024.  Twenty-two groups of residents ran the drill in neighborhoods throughout the city.  Participants practiced organizing in teams to help one another after a simulated earthquake and learned how to report major incidents to a simulated Emergency Operations Center.

This event was supported by the Central County Fire Department, the Burlingame Police Department and local HAM radio operators. Local police officers and firefighters stopped by to offer advice and answer questions.  Burlingame Neighborhood Network (BNN) Co-Chair Joe Becerra thanked community members, police, fire and HAM radio operators for participating. “We are grateful to everyone who stepped up to help Burlingame become more resilient,” he said.
