Melina has worked for 30 years at the San Mateo County Medical Center as an emergency room triage and clinical nurse, a role that convinced her of the importance of emergency preparedness and knowing your neighbors in times of crisis. Her husband, Bob Spencer, a HAM radio operator who is active with BNN, shares a passion for community building stemming from his long career in emergency medicine in his former roles of Emergency Department Director and a member of the San Mateo County Medical Center’s Board of Governors and Emergency Preparedness Committee. Together, they have hosted six BNN drills and many neighborhood parties.
Melina is a first-generation Californian whose parents immigrated from Argentina to San Francisco. She and Bob have a blended family of six children. Melina and Bob have lived in the Burlingame Hills for 16 years. She enjoys spending time at home gardening with her three cats Cal, Stanford and Willow, and one spoiled dog, Petunia, a Yorkipoo.
