Eagle Scout Project Aims to Help Renters

Posted on May 30, 2026 by BNN Network
May 30, 2026 — Kai Pierre, a Burlingame teen who attends Burlingame Intermediate School, recently received accolades from BNN’s board of directors when he presented his proposed Eagle Scout Service Project on disaster preparedness to them.

Scheduled to begin in June, his project will encourage local residents in apartment buildings to participate in BNN’s annual drill on October 3 by offering outreach materials targeted at them, playbooks for coordinating drill in multiple apartment buildings, and tips for increasing participation and strengthening connections among neighbors. Kai will recruit volunteers to help with the project from his Boy Scout Troop 156, his sister troop (Troop 4156), friends, family and neighbors.

If you live in an apartment building in Burlingame and would like to work with Kai, please contact him at [email protected].

Founded in 2006 by community volunteers, Burlingame Neighborhood Network is a non-profit 501 (c)(3) corporation. Our annual Burlingame Citywide Emergency Drill brings neighborhood groups together to respond to a simulated emergency so that residents can learn how to protect their families and help one another. We also host quarterly meetings on topics related to emergency preparedness and response.
