BLOCK OF THE MONTH

When disaster strikes, your neighbors are your first responders.
The Block of the Month award celebrates the blocks that are Emergency Ready.

What Is Block of the Month?

The Block of the Month award is presented each month by the Burlingame Neighborhood Network to recognize a block, apartment building, condo complex, or neighborhood that has taken meaningful steps toward emergency preparedness and community connection. Earning this award means your neighbors know each other, are ready to act, and have the tools to help one another when it matters most.

What Does It Take to Qualify?

Blocks are recognized for demonstrating strength across these key areas of preparedness and community connection. You don’t need to check every box — but the more your block has done, the stronger your case.

Maybe your block has not organized yet. You can take steps to work your way to the Block of the Month and be Emergency Ready. Here is how:

  • Select a Block Leader and Drill Leader. Sign up to participate in Disaster Drill on Saturday, October 3 at 9 a.m.
  • Hold a block event (example ice cream party) Start your contact roster.
  • Watch the training video
  • Select a communication person
  • Take the two training sessions
