We invite you to participate in Burlingame’s next Citywide Emergency Drill from 9 to 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, October 13, 2018. Participating in the drill is the best thing you can do to familiarize yourself, your family and your neighbors with best practices for responding to a major disaster. It’s free and we will supply all the materials you need at no cost. We will also show you how to use an emergency communications network to request help from professional emergency responders and receive official notifications.
The drill is organized by the Burlingame Neighborhood Network and supported by the City of Burlingame, the Central County Fire Department, the Burlingame Police Department, local CERTs and local Ham radio operators. The deadline for signups is September 22. Here’s a flier you can customize and distribute to your neighbors. And here’s an individual invitation you can edit and send.
You will need at least eight people to run a drill on your block. We can supply invitations for your neighbors and the names of people in your area who are intereshttp://burlingamenetwork.org/wp-content/uploads/2018/08/Sample-drill-flyer_in-Word.docted in participating. At least one member from each group – and anyone else who is interested – is invited to attend two workshops to learn how to do the drill:
- Thursday, September 27, 7 to 8 p.m. Drill Walk-Through. We’ll show you how the drill is done.
- Tuesday, October 2, 7 to 8:30 p.m. Communications Workshop. You’ll learn how to communicate within your neighborhood and how to use our city’s emergency communications network.
If you prefer, we can assign you to another group’s drill to see how it is done.
More than 330 Burlingame residents participated in last year’s drill. Click here to learn more about last year’s drill.
